About Lively Up Your Earth (LUYE)

Auroville is an intentional community started in 1968. Envisioned by Mirra Alfassa ( The Mother) , it is based on the philosophies of the poet, revolutionary and sage Sri Aurobindo. Lively Up Your Earth (LUYE) is a one day Eco-Music festival set on the lush grounds of Solitude Farm  in Auroville’s International zone. In its fifth year running, the 2015 edition will kick off at 10am on the Sunday morning of February the 15th This years celebration of music and food, both so essential to the building of bodies, souls and community, will continue into the night.

This year, as usual, the Main Stage will host rock, pop, jazz and fusion acts. Smaller acoustic sets will play on the more intimate Secret Garden Stage. The third stage, the Circus Stage, is new this year and will mainly showcase performance art, such as the Miracle Circus, an adventure into the world of dance, silks and ariel performance. This years Art Space will invite children (young and old!) to participate and create, alongside many different artists; painting, drawing, sculpting and having fun! Workshops, such as Acro-yoga, capoeira, Face–painting, a Healing tree, Qi Gong and laughter yoga will happen throughout the day.

And yet, what perhaps sets LUYE apart is that it takes place on a working permaculture farm. There will be plenty of stalls offering natural organic food, fresh from the fields of Solitude Farm. In addition, eco-stalls displaying Auroville products (pottery, bamboo-based products, Tetra Pak furniture and other up-cycling goodies…), will help give exposure to local artisans and units.

This small, friendly and alcohol-free festival is both the fruit of the different projects of Solitude Farm and a fundraiser. Whilst the event is free for Aurovilians and Newcomers, we ask for a 500 rupee contribution from Guests, with the aim to improve our irrigation system, build a volunteers kitchen, and an office/library space. So, come mingle with them and others. Together, mixing generations and nationalities, let us lively up our earth and our selves!

LUYE!!!!  Blast from the Past!
